Finfish Management Project
In 2008, the Aquarium of the Bay began assisting the California Department of Fish and Game with an investigation on the impacts of various fishing hook types on released California halibut (Paralichthys californicus). Working with the State Finfish Management Project Staff, the project goal is to determine if certain hook types are more likely to cause fatal damage to California halibut. The results of this project could influence hook and release programs as well as the California hook-and-line halibut industry.
