"Lights, Camera, Aquarium!" Video Competition
For all who have dreamed of Oscar-worthy fame in the Director category, Aquarium of the Bay has the competition for you. With two entry categories, cash prizes and much more up for grabs, it is time to get your cameras rolling.
Using the Aquarium’s exhibit spaces, including its crystal clear tunnels filled with 20,000 marine animals or touch pools that are home to sharks, bat rays and sea stars as a backdrop are sure to provide countless muses for competition participants.
Competition Categories Two competition categories are open to amateur videographers: - Awesome Aquatic Animals - select your favorite aquatic animal from the 200 species that live at Aquarium of the Bay, and explain why you chose it.
- Going Green - describe what you plan to do or are doing to increase your environmental friendliness, or share your favorite green tip.
Contest Rules Amateur videographers can submit one entry per category between now and Sunday, November 23, 2008. In order to participate, applicants must upload their videos to the Aquarium of the Bay’s YouTube group at and “tag” the video with “Aquarium of the Bay.” Once the videos are uploaded and tagged, applicants will e-mail the link to katis@aquariumofthebay.com. The competition is open to all amateur photographers and applicable to video that has been shot within Aquarium of the Bay’s exhibit space within the past 12 months.

Prizes All entrants will become winners by receiving a complimentary ticket to Aquarium of the Bay. The Grand Prize winner in each category will receive $100, an Aquarium of the Bay prize package valued at $100 and a one-year “Individual Plus” Aquarium membership.
Voting Entries will be featured here throughout the duration of the contest. Following the entry deadline, a panel of Aquarium of the Bay judges will select five finalists in each category, which will become available for online public voting on Monday, November 24.
