PG&E Bay Lab

Get up close and personal with a variety of critters, participate in hands-on science experiments and more during naturalist-led presentations in the all new PG&E Bay Lab.

10:15am: Meet the Red Eared Slider

11:00am:  What Where You Step - Did you know that there are lots of actions we do every day that lead to increased consumption of energy, which leads to climate change? Visitors investigate the interconnectedness of lifestyle, population and environmental impacts.

11:45am:  Meet the California King Snake

1:15pm:  Greenhouse Effect - Over the past few centuries, people have been burning more amounts of fuels such as wood, coal, oil and gas. The gases formed by burning, such as CO2, are building up in the atmosphere. Visitors will complete experiments to learn how the Earth’s temperature is being changed by these gasses.

2:00pm: Meet the
African Pygmy Hedgehog

2:45pm:  Blowing in the Wind - Did you know that you can harness power out of thin air? Visitors will investigate wind one of the most promising sources of clean, renewable energy today. They will also learn that wind energy has been used for centuries to pump water and crush grain.

4:00pm:  Meet the
Blue Tongued Skink

4:45pm: Expanding Oceans - Did you know that sea levels are rising three times faster now than 100 years ago? What causes this? Is it the melting ice or something else? Using science, let’s unlock the mystery of rising sea levels.
