Aquarium Exploration Tours

Explore Aquarium of the Bay and delve into scientific practices on an Aquarium Educator-led Exploration Tour.  Exploration Tours are not classroom programs. If you are interested in a classroom program with an optional Self-Guided Tour, please see the Sea Lion Center programs. 

Program Length: 75 minute guided tour

Days Offered: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays

Times Offered: 10:15 am, 11:30 am, and 1:00 pm

Number of Participants: Limit of 35 students and a maximum of 10 adult chaperones per Aquarium Exploration Tour

NOTE: The High School Behind the Scenes Tour has a limit of 10 total participants (students and chaperones) per tour and multiple time slots are required. 
  
 

Tour Options


Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten:

Bay Explorers: Using your scientific skills, explore our very own San Francisco Bay and the amazing animals that live in it.

Early Elementary (1st – 3rd grade):

Have to Have a Habitat: Explore the habitats of San Francisco Bay and the amazing animals that live here.

Sharks 101: Discover the amazing world of sharks by observing the Aquarium’s sharks and exploring their extraordinary adaptations. 

Upper Elementary (3rd – 5th grade):

Bay Scientists: Science plays an integral role in understanding and caring for the natural world. Discover how everyone can use science to learn about and protect San Francisco Bay. 

Middle School (6th – 8th grade):

Our Interconnected Bay: Discover how the animals of San Francisco Bay are interconnected through the food web and their shared environment while observing their ambassadors in the Aquarium. 

High School (9th- 12th grade):

Behind the Scenes Tour: Have you ever wondered what it takes to run an aquarium? While going behind the scenes, explore how we care for our animal ambassadors and learn about green job opportunities. 

Reservations for this program are full for the 2016-2017 school year. Check back in August 2017 for information on program reservations for the 2017-2018 school year. Have a great summer!

Please Note: bay.org’s Aquarium of the Bay, Sea Lion Center and BayMobile free education programs are available to all K-12 school groups from the 9 Bay Area counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano and Sonoma). This does not include after-school or youth group programs affiliated with K-12 schools. All other youth or non-Bay Area school groups wishing to visit Aquarium of the Bay programs should contact our Group Sales Department at sales@bay.org.
